Let’s Go! Eleven Days, Eleven Minutes, A Wh

February 27, 2013
"To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest…" When I first began teaching at Karma Yoga (almost three years ago), Katherine Austin, owner of the studio, said to me "It will be interesting to see where you are with your teaching a year or two from now." Well, here I am and loving it! Who would have thought? When we stop resisting and just let ourselves go with the flow…amazing things happen! And so, today, I will be joyfully participating (by myself; but never alone, upon a cushion, on my floor) in a very simple, yet powerful, 11...

11 Days Of Love – Life Is Glorious!

February 25, 2013
Good Sunday morning lovers of love, seekers of happiness! Every now and then we need a hearty dose of inspiration. Known to some and felt by others, as a kick in the buttasana! Sundays are perfectly suited for encouragement; which often energizes and inspires us for the week ahead.  The following quote by Pema Chodron captured my attention while window shopping this morning. Consequently, I felt compelled to share. ""To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest…" I also want to mention that I will be joyfully participating (by myself,...

The Yoga of Packing (for India)

February 24, 2013
I must say I'm getting this packing thing down to some degree...... so grateful for regular travel, as I've learned a thing or two.  Albeit it's still hard for me to not give in to the desire to bring lots of options!  I am a yogi, but still a woman. India is fun to pack for.  Such a different world with climates changing from location to location.  This trip, I will begin in Rishikesh along Ma Ganga, where it's chilly in the mornings for early sadhana. I'll also be meditating in a cave at the lap of the Himalayas.  Layers are key. Later, I'll journey to Amritsar, which is close to Pakistan....

Tears of Joy

February 23, 2013
Yesterday I taught my last prenatal yoga class before my passage to India on 2/27.  We started teaching expectant mammas last spring, and the journey has been incredible - so much more than I ever could have imagined. Prenatal class creates a safe, intimate, community environment for beautiful moms to relax and prepare for a divine birth.  We really become close as they grow through bringing this new soul into being.  Mantra, breath and movement create a sacred environment for all of us. Three of my moms are close to delivering while I'm gone.  When class ended yesterday, several mammas...

What Might your Couer Inspire you to do Today

February 8, 2013
by Lynn Medow On December 1,1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man on a Montgomery, Alabama city bus. That courageous act resulted in her arrest, sparked a year-long bus boycott & helped give rise to the Civil Rights Movement. Earlier this week, on February 4th, Parks would have been 100 years old. Just this week, Rep. John Conyers Jr. and other congressional representatives presented a resolution to designate every Feb. 4 hence forth as a National Day of Courage. He shared that Rosa Parks never sought the limelight, in fact, preferred to avoid it. He stated, "I think...

Listening to the Rain

February 7, 2013
By Lynne Meredith Golodner Recently, I made ghee with two of my children. We stood around the stove, transfixed by the butter melting on the bottom of the metal pan. We watched it silently swirl into liquid and the kids kept saying, "I hear it. I hear the rain." I shooshed them because they didn't hear it yet. We are so often eager to hear something that we fill the silence, thinking we are hearing it when really it hasn't even begun to whisper. Making ghee takes a good 20 minutes, and the first few are silent. The rain does not begin until all the butter is melted and it starts to bubble....

All We Have is the Present. Let's do this!

February 6, 2013
I attended a memorial a few weeks back for a man who left his body at 62. Although it was a sad occasion as he passed suddenly, it was also a celebration of all he did in those short 62 years. Wow. I didn't personally know him yet I've known his wife for many years. I sat there with what felt like 1,000 family, friends, and colleagues as we took in and merged with beautiful photographs of memories that were so uplifting and inspiring. Many special people shared their journeys and memories of knowing this man like at any other memorial. This man was truly accomplished. He lived a life of full-on...
