"When you lose touch with inner stillness, you lose touch with yourself. When you lose touch with yourself, you lose yourself in the world." ~ Eckhart Tolle

Isn't it great when affirmation of our feelings just shows up?

Like this afternoon; right now, I'm relaxing on my bed with my three dogs; obviously with my computer on my lap and this perfect quote from Eckhart Tolle is just there, here - now.

Now, wow, that's it, "The Power of Now", by Eckhart Tolle. I'm a huge fan, (no kidding...I quote him all the time).

Perhaps you've heard me say in class umpteen times, "accept, then act." This mantra goes off in my head with the regularity of a cuckoo clock. Or, the extended version of the quote which is, "Accept every moment as if you chose it. Accept then act." Good, right?

Today, I fully accepted that I needed stillness; now I'm acting on that need. Following a stressful weekend, I was on the verge of losing touch with myself and I certainly don't want to feel lost in the world; that never works out well.

Everyday, I pine for an hour or two of horizontal solitude in my beautiful bedroom, to do absolutely nothing, but listen. This afternoon ritual of stillness quiets my mind and soothes my soul.

Sitting upright in meditation or on the floor with my legs up the wall is not my usual calling for afternoon rest and restoration. Other times, these meditation experiences are perfectly wonderful; just not during my bewitching hour.

My bedroom opens to the backyard, where I hear hundreds of birds chirping in song. Squirrels chase from tree to tree; dashing in and out of our many feeders. I can hear the precious sounds of children screaming, yelling and laughing in the schoolyard just beyond our fence; this is joy, this is peace. This is what I need, now.

Rested, I will head to the kitchen to make a calming brew of organic green chamomile tea. What I enjoy most is sipping from one of my Grandma's special tea cups. We spent many afternoons together drinking tea, talking and laughing; just being together. Now, that was a true love connection, and always will be.

Awake, and reconnected to the world, I'm recharged and ready to go. Off to wonderful Karma Yoga I go. Hope to see you there!

Always Love,
